Behind the Boxes

Meet the Founder

Hello and welcome! I’m Jasmine, and I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m a pediatric occupational therapist with specialties in early intervention, pediatrics, and neurological rehabilitation. Alongside my clinical work, I teach occupational therapy courses at the university level. Over ten years, I’ve supported children as a special education instructor, preschool teacher, and behavioral technician. I was also a dating coach for teens and adults on the spectrum. Currently, I’m a group facilitator for social skills classes for children and adults with special needs, and I run local sensory and mommy and me classes focused on skill-building and connection.

Through all this experience working closely with children and families, I realized that the best way to help kids build skills like independence, fine and gross motor coordination, and sensory regulation is through thoughtfully chosen toys that are both fun and meaningful.

I’ve spent a lot of time finding evidence-based toys that work well in therapy sessions and that parents can feel confident using at home. Many family members and friends with young children asked me for recommendations, and parents in my early intervention work often wanted to know which toys would truly help their kids.

That inspired me to create Joojeh Joy. It brings together my knowledge and experience to offer toys designed to bring joy while supporting children’s growth toward independence.

The name Joojeh comes from a Farsi word meaning “baby chick.” It’s a sweet term of endearment used to affectionately call someone small, cute, and precious much like how you might say “little chick” or “sweetie” in English. I found myself saying it often to the children I worked with because it perfectly captures the warmth and care I feel for each child. I added “Joy” because these toys are meant to bring happiness, playfulness, and learning into every home.

At Joojeh Joy, my mission is to provide sensory-rich toys and experiences that support children and their families. I also offer sensory and mommy and me classes designed to help kids develop skills in a joyful and nurturing environment.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
